Northwest Washington's peak tourist season is late July and August. That's when kids are out of school for the summer, and families go on vacation.

If you plan to lay on the beach and get a tan, late July and August is the time to vacation in Northwest Washington.

But, if your kids are grown up, you can vacation when you want to, right?!

Cathryn and I live here. With a wink and a nod, Cathryn and I will tell you that early September through early October is the best time to vacation in Northwest Washington.

During the peak tourist season (July and August), temperatures sometimes spike into the high 80's (And, occassionally, even hotter)! Cathryn and live here. To us, that's just too darned hot. We want to enjoy working in our flower garden without sweltering!

It's a given, of course, that the weather can be unpredicable. But, to Cathryn and me, early September through early October is heavenly.

The kids are back in school (Hooray!), the crowds have thinned out (YES!), and temperatures hover around 70 degrees (Yes!!).
