When traveling from Port Angeles, through Forks, to the Pacific Ocean coast, you can choose to stay in a motel in either Port Angeles or Forks.

Between Port Angeles and the Pacific Ocean coast, there's not much in the way of commerce. But, there's lots of beautiful scenery!

Many people stay in Port Angeles, as they prefer the ammenities of a larger city.

They have breakfast in Port Angeles, then drive approximately 1-1/2 hours through gorgeous terrain (including the Forks area) to La Push, which is an Indian Reservation on the ocean coast.

Here's an insider restaurant tip:
Going to the Pacific Ocean Coast is a day-drive for Cathryn and me. We do know this turf!

Cathryn and I always drive through Port Angeles and continue toward the coast, to eat at a restaurant that comes up on our right, near Forks.

Cathryn and I never remember this restaurant's name. We just always stop to eat there! To us, it will always be "The restaurant that comes up on our right."

As of this writing, it's the only restaurant between Port Angeles and the ocean coast. Going west toward the ocean from Port Angeles, the restaurant will come up on your right (You can't miss it). I do enjoy their ham, eggs and hash browns, and their modest prices!

So, it's a toss-up as to whether you'll want stay in a motel in Port Angeles or in Forks. If you stay in Forks, a nice home-style restaurant is close at hand (You'll see it on your right ;-) And, when you wake up in the morning in Forks, you're practically at the ocean.

Local Hospitality: Once you've driven west from Port Angeles, don't stop to ask directions local residents unless you've got time to chat for a few minutes, meet the kids, pet the family dog, and listen to numerous enthusiastic suggestions about things you should see and do in the area!

In Forks, check-in at your motel can turn in to "social hour" if you're willing to talk about where you're from and where you're going.
